Breaking of Bread

We hold our “Breaking of Bread” service at 10:15am every Sunday. You may know of this service as “Communion”.

For Christadelphians, this is the most important time that we share in the week. We come together to worship, pray, read from the Bible and to take some bread and some wine. We do this to keep the commandment that Jesus gave to His disciples:

“…the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said ‘This my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’ For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.” 1 Corinthians 11v23-26

When we share bread and wine we remember the sacrifice that Jesus Christ willingly made. Through His death and resurrection we have a new covenant with God. A new way for men and women, despite our failings, to be at peace with God. That is something worth remembering and celebrating every week!

You are very welcome to join us for our service but only members of our community will be offered the bread and the wine. If you have any questions about this we’d be happy to discuss them with you.
